Does it show “subscribe” or “subscribed” when you look at my story? Apparently, I subscribed to my own newsletter and can’t figure out how to undo that action. Still working from my iPad, my laptop is being a pain and I may need to trash it.
He was someone I choose to forget. Their marriage was not a good one. He knew if he told my mother, she would respond only in rage. Memories I’ve confronted, processed, and put away.
What I love about this story is my cheekiness, how bold I was.
I love thinking about my “real” Dad, and grateful I got him back in my young adult years and after! 💗
Ah, thank you. It is so complicated, isn't it. I have published a couple of stories about my birth father who abandoned us, and about my step-father who was barely tolerable. Both alcoholics. I am a survivor! Sounds like you may be too, in some way.
Good dad. Good story, Jenise! I am glad I am finally finding the time to sit down and go through your archive. Very entertaining, thank you.
Aww, thank you, Sharron! So kind of you. I need to get back to posting old stories and writing new ones.
I’ve been having too much fun in the kitchen cooking new recipes. 😁
Confirm or deny, mm-hmm!
😂🤣😂 You guess!
Good story! My parents were pretty lenient, so I really didn't feel the need to rebel:) That works, too.

Subscribed on my end.
I'm subscribed to my own newsletters, so I can verify that the email version was delivered okay.
Oh! That makes sense! Thank you 😊
Oh yeah! I’d make Dad’s Tom Collin’s so I could take a sip. 🤣
Ha! They drank Tom Collins, too.
He was her 2nd husband and wasn’t involved in our discipline. And, he knew she’d rage at me if he told her about my sneaky maneuver.
So, it was “a save”, I knew it, and appreciated it.
You could write more about your unique relationship with your stepfather, Jenise I, for one, would be interested.

Yes! We are survivors, and... thrivers! Life is beautiful, the beauty is there if we take time to see it.
That's why readers need us authors who see the existing beauty and share it with the world.
