Wildflowers by the side of the road
Soft pink, pale yellow centers,
Fairy kisses soothing my soul,
My broken heart.
Sing to me, oh fairy flowers
Softly whisper words of hope
Of lovers new
Of dreams restored.
Flowers fair, kissed by angels
Who sing at Creator’s throne
Breathe on me His breath of life
And refresh my heart anew.

About this Verse
Note: This post is a part of my “push” between now and the end of December to publish my older works on Substack. You’ll read new works beginning January 2023.
My friend (who prefers to remain anonymous) walked today (April 2021) through the beautiful canyon park near her home. Yes, the same park that inspired me to write “The Western Skink” (verse in rhyme). Today, she texted me a few photos as she and her daughters walked along the nature path.
Then, she sent me this text:
The flowers spoke to me. How soft and pink, how delicate!
This free verse was a “quickie”, but I hope you enjoyed it, and that it touched you in a good way or made you smile.
