The blank page glares white.
The author’s pen feels heavy.

About this Verse
Note: This post is a part of my “push” to publish my older works on Substack. I’m now publishing new works in between the ones I’m archiving here.
There’s nothing that frustrates a writer more than a blank page or a blank screen on a computer or mobile device. Blank screens beckon, nag, and insult while the writer’s creative mind remains empty of ideas.
I stared at this image of a blank page and let my thoughts wander. The idea finally arrived with a surprise ending. One of the purposes of a poem written as haiku verse is to provide a “twist”.

I have to wait until something is percolating, Jenise. A health scare; that would do it.
