Sunlight in my mouth.
Fresh, juicy, sweet; just like you,
my love forever!

About this Verse
Note: This post is a part of my “push” to publish my older works on Substack. I’m now publishing new works in between the ones I’m archiving here.
I like story prompts as they help me think of things outside of my “Drafts” folder of ideas.
The writing prompt “sunlight” directed my image search online to find the perfect photo to go with my haiku. Photographs also spark my writing muse. It amazes me the high quality of images photographers share for free on the internet. The photo I chose makes me salivate every time I see these delicious tangerines.
But, my haiku verse isn’t about fruit.

That certainly is a bowl of sunshine, Jenise! Gorgeous photo. Sweet sentiment for a Saturday morning.
